BMW 4S Experiencing Center
Upward spiral is the inevitable form of expression in the process of the development of things, which is the basic shape of the law of innovation and upgrading of all things.
Known for its personalized and pure driving pleasure, the BMW Exhibition Hall has completed the innovative design and perfect landing of the Ling Chuang 4S experience Center in Wangcheng District, Changsha. Entrusted by Sime Darby & BMW, ARCHIHOPE Ltd. renovated the old buildings, broke the traditional customer moving line mode, and integrated the exhibition hall, coffee shop, book bar, restaurant, retail shop, children's playground, office, garage, repair workshop and so on in the 6000-square-meter building, which created a large BMW new retail experiencing center that was a leading creation with advanced concept.
Solving problems is the core task of ARCHIHOPE Ltd. for any project, and the project is no exception. BMW, which has always been guided by pure driving pleasure, has also encountered opportunities in the new energy intelligent vehicle and new retail experience era, and thus the concept of a leading store emerged from the manufacturer's headquarter in China.
Basing on the standard and exceeding the standard to achieve the best effect. in the design process, BMW has a lot of guidelines and standards for brand display, which provided both enlightenment and many limitations for the designers, especially in the premise of limited condition in structure and lighting of the original building. Hihope Zhu believes that the focus of the design is how to make BMW break through the market of luxury brand cars. Just like the spiral development process, it is only by constantly breaking through the traditional concept that the design can live up to the great concept that BMW stays at the top in the car market.
As how to activate the vitality of the upper layer has always been a difficult problem, Hihope Zhu in ARCHIHOPE hoped to get rid of the original spatial pattern to think about more possibilities of architecture while respecting history and realizing the balance and connection between the new and the old building. The core strategy of the transformation included expanding the lighting well on the original roof and a bold design to make the whole lighting well to realize its function as the main marketing circulation.
However, it was found that there were actually two beams in the floorslab, when the lighting well of the original building was being demolished. The designer communicated with the specific team for several times, aiming to hide the support columns. As a result, after the construction company removed the beams, four columns in the structural area of the lighting well were thickened and strengthened with steel. Grooves were made on the surface of the columns, combined with facade design elements such as display cabinets so as to visually weaken the thickened columns. Due to the rotating ladder with heavy self-weight whose span was as long as 7 meters, there were the problem with stress under loads and resonance. The specific team used the characteristics of spring structure to ease shock and absorb vibration to optimize the design. In order to achieve the established effect of rotating staircase, the team carried out many structural calculations and modeling, calculated and performed force analysis according to the cross-section areas of the beams. Finally the finished building achieved the anticipated results of the designer and the owner.
So when the customers enter the open space entrance, what comes into view is the whirlpool rotating ladder with a central span of up to 7 meters and a double-layer space, reflecting each other with the welcome round bar. The rotating ladder goes straight to the roof, and the space axis and visual effect create a longitudinal sense of space extension, that lead people's sight to the direction of the sky and the sun. The spiritual power of space gives people an infinite reverie to the sky.
Finally, the corridor and escalator that condense, disperse and guide the flow of people are formed, which connects different floors and produces the relationship between "vertical" and "horizontal" in space.
From architecture, curtain wall, structure and interior, to home furnishing, soft decoration, multimedia system, Hihope Zhu's design practice permeates all aspects of the project field. In facade design, the facade walls between the second floor and the first floor were removed and built indoor curtain walls instead (sheet spray shop, overhaul shop and customer restaurant). The entire atrium space from the ground to the ceiling has no redundant shelters, so that the atrium with a height of 7.5 meters shows an sense of transparency and space like an auditorium and cars of all series are presented in front of customers.
Customers were all moved by the spiral upward space. The concept of " upward spiral" comes from a philosophical proposition, and is the inevitable form of expression in the process of the development of things. It shows that the development of things from simple to complex, from the beginning to the end is not linear, but similar to a series of spiral curves that started from itself, and seemingly returns to where it began. In reality, it grows more abundant and gets promoted in the period. It is believed that through the vertical and horizontal space appeal brought by the upward spiral, BMW's loyal supporters will feel the spirit of innovation in the BMW cultural inheritance from present to the future.
